the dish on brooks photography

"Andrew said you could take good pictures and I have a favor to ask..." This fateful sentence was uttered to me at a concert a few years ago and was essentially the start of Brooks Photography. A friend explained he was in a pinch and needed a wedding photographer. I was reluctant but really excited at the opportunity and called a close friend of mine who I also knew had mad skills. She suddenly came down with the "flu," took the day off work and we journeyed 3 hours to the wedding site. While completely exhausted, we came back with some incredible pictures and lots of stories - I was hooked. When it comes to "my style”" I'm not sure if there's really one category I fit into but I know what I like and that is to take pictures that tell a story - that reveal the emotion and the connections that people have to one another. Pictures are like little memory keepers because as memories fade, pictures remain steadfast evidence of the experiences and history that has led us to the present. On this journey, I need to thank my friends and family who offered a tremendous amount of encouragement and support. Thanks to Andrew who thought enough of me to pass along my name to friends who were in need. Thanks to Pat and Judy for asking and insisting I photograph the wedding that would start it all. Thanks to Quinn for road tripping with me and lending her stellar photography skills that very long, very warm day. Most of all – thanks to Mike, my incredible husband and partner in crime for whom I am eternally thankful that I caught such a good one! That's the story of Brook's Photography. A story of happenstance and opportunities taken.I'm not gonna lie - it's a great gig.
